MIGRANT CLASH LEAVES HUNGARY BITTERLY DIVIDED!!

War on all fronts," thunders the headline in the conservative daily newspaper, Magyar Nemzet - a reference to both the battles between desperate refugees and Hungarian riot police, and to Hungary's deepening diplomatic isolation.
Csaba Lukacs, the paper's leader writer, depicts a Hungary under attack from young, stone-throwing Muslim men: "Hungary's border was besieged by those who think they have the basic human right to march across Europe without documents."
Many in Hungary agree with these sentiments.
In Roszke on the Serbian border, through which tens of thousands of refugees have walked in recent months, little remains of the refugee camp constructed last weekend - just in time to help the last of the migrants.
A few white humanitarian tents, 34 portable toilets, and some people sifting through the rubbish for anything of value.

Image caption Pepper farmer Zoltan Varga believes the police acted properly but questions the decision to shut the border
But in the cornfields and sunflower fields nearby, there are knapsacks, clothes, children's toys and human excrement in every row. Many patches where people slept or hid, or fled pursuing policemen, have been flattened.
"I'm so glad this is all over," local farmer Zoltan Varga told me, as he inspected his red peppers.
Some of the crop was trampled underfoot, he said, as people ran through the fields. Some migrants slept in his greenhouses and caused damage there.
He had watched Wednesday's police intervention at the Roszke road crossing on television.
"The police acted correctly," he said. But he also felt sorry for the families with children. "If they had to come, why couldn't we lay on trains to take them across the country?"

                       Hungarian police 'had little choice'

The clashes at the Roszke-Horgos border crossing divide pro-government and opposition newspapers.
Magyar Idok, a paper launched recently by the ruling Fidesz party, argues the "determination and aggressiveness" of the migrants left Hungarian police with little choice but to use water cannon.
Centre-right Magyar Nemzet says "the Hungarian border was besieged by those who think that it's their basic human right to march throughout Europe without papers."
But centre-left Nepszabadsag reacts sarcastically that "the strong Hungarian nation can breathe freely. We no longer have anything to worry about".
And a commentator in centre-left Nepszava remarks: "We can now get on with our everyday Hungarian lives surrounded by barbed wire and shunned by migrants, neighbours, brothers, pals, close friends and investors."

The government has been anxiously watching public opinion polls, and commissioning its own private ones, for any sign of an improvement in their popularity, which sank drastically last October.
An important factor in its handling of the crisis has been the loss of a million supporters, and a surge in the popularity of the radical nationalist Jobbik party, which shares Fidesz's anti-migrant rhetoric.

The latest poll by the pro-government Szazadveg think tank gave them some comfort, suggesting that the popularity of Fidesz grew from 43% in June to 48% in September.
But those figures are challenged by Professor Gabor Toka, a public opinion specialist at the Central European University in Budapest.
"I haven't seen any evidence that would support the claim that the government's handling of the refugee crisis has increased its popularity," he told the BBC, pointing to the results of five separate pollsters since January.
From the opposition side, liberal weekly Magyar Narancs depicted Prime Minister Viktor Orban with a curly, Hitler-style moustache made of coils of barbed wire - prompting a small demonstration outside its offices by Orban loyalists.
The dispute has further polarised an already deeply-divided society.

SYRIA CRISIS: US AND RUSSIA DEFENCE CHIEFS DISCUSS CONFLICT!!

Top US and Russian defence officials have held their first talks in more than a year to discuss the Syrian war, the Pentagon says.
Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter discussed with Russia's Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu how their two sides can avoid accidentally clashing on the ground, a statement said.
Russia said the talks proved the sides had common ground, state media said.
The US and Russia have disagreed sharply on Syria's bloody civil war.
While Moscow has backed the Syrian government, the US sees the removal of President Bashar al-Assad as essential to resolving the conflict.
The US has also been alarmed about reports of a Russian military build-up in Syria, at a time when the Assad government has been losing ground to rebels.
Russian fighter jets have now arrived at an airfield near President Assad's heartland of Latakia, US officials said.
Both sides however are concerned about the so-called Islamic State, with the US leading a coalition against the militant group.

The growing Russian military presence in Syria, not least the deployment of surface-to-air missiles to defend the airfield at Latakia, means that Washington and Moscow have a lot to talk about.
The phone call between the US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter and his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu is only the first step.
The US and a number of its allies are flying strike missions into Syrian air space and they do not want to have any misunderstandings with Russia's forces there.
The Americans also want to get a clearer idea as to the purpose of the Russian presence in Syria.
Is this simply to secure a bridge-head to re-supply Mr Assad? Or does it herald a Russian intervention in the fighting?
Military talks between Moscow and Washington could also facilitate a better understanding on the diplomatic front with Syria likely to be a prominent issue in the crucial contacts on the margins of the UN General Assembly later this month.

News of the phone call between Mr Carter and Mr Shoigu emerged shortly after Secretary of State John Kerry said the US hoped military-to-military conversations would take place "very shortly".
The defence chiefs discussed areas where "perspectives overlap and areas of divergence," the Pentagon statement said, describing the talks as "constructive".
In the 50-minute conversation, Mr Shoigu told Mr Carter that Russian activities in Syria were "defensive in nature," a US official told Reuters.

The two sides also agreed to further talks, reopening formal contact after relations were badly strained by Russian action last year in Ukraine.
The last conversation between the US defence chief and his Russian counterpart was last August when Mr Carter's predecessor Chuck Hagel held the office.
Meanwhile, Moscow has said that any request from Syria to send troops would be "discussed and considered".
A Russian human rights body said it has been contacted by Russian soldiers who fear being sent to fight in Syria.
Any secret deployment of troops to Syria would be illegal, said Sergei Krivenko of the Russian Human Rights Council.

MOURINHO EXPRESSES PLEASURE IN CHELSEA'S VICTORY OVER MACCABI TEL AVIV!!

Chelsea Manager, Jose Mourinho, admits he is happy to be back to winning ways after his side’s 4-nil victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League.

Despite Eden Hazard blazing an early penalty high over the bar, the English Premier League champions scored twice in the first half.
Diego Costa, who replaced Willian after the Brazilian was injured after 20 minutes, brilliantly volleyed in Chelsea’s third after 58 minutes with Cesc Fabregas finishing off a breakaway for the fourth after 78 minutes.
Mourinho also confirmed that Chelsea would be without Pedro and Willian in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.
Mourinho’s team have made a stuttering start to their premier league title defence, managing four points from their five games that left them fourth from bottom in the league table.
However, the Chelsea Manager lashed out at his critics, saying he remains “a fantastic manager” in victory and in defeats.

KANYE WEST RUNNING FOR US PRESIDENT IN 2020!!

Rapper, Kanye West received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, after which he disclosed in his acceptance speech that he will be running for President in 2020.

West also spoke at length about being changed by fatherhood, defending artistry, the hypocrisy of media, the ridiculousness of award shows, and more.
“I will die for the art, and for what I believe in and the art isn’t always going to be polite”, he said.
Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake both performed lengthy, career-spanning medleys when they won in 2014 and 2013, respectively.
All six of West’s albums have gone platinum, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and he’s logged 22 top 10 singles on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
However, it appears West, who has also delved into fashion business, is about to launch his political career, by declaring his White House ambition.

MUSIC LEGEND TURNS 40!!

Nigeria’s music legend, 2Face Innocent Ujah Idibia, has turned 40 on September 18.

With an enviable career and a source of inspiration to many, 2Face has churned out quality music contents and performances all over the world.
Born in Jos, Nigeria, Innocent Idibia attended Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State.
He hails from the Idoma ethnic group in the southern part of Benue State.
2face enrolled at Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu (IMT), where he did his Preliminary National Diploma course in Business Administration and Management.
While attending IMT, he performed at school organised shows and parties, as well as other regional schools such as the University of Nigeria and Enugu State University of Science & Technology.
Innocent Idibia eventually dropped out to pursue his music career. While attending IMT, he started composing and singing jingles at the GB Fan Club at Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) in 1996. Also in 1996, he adopted the stage name “2Face” (Tuface).
In 2006, his song “African Queen” was used in the soundtrack for the film, Phat Girlz, which was released internationally.
2Face released a promotion album in 2008 called The Unstoppable, releasing the single “Enter the Place”. Problems with album distribution in 2007 caused a shift of the release date of the album from 2008 to early 2009.
In 2010, he released an “international edition” of the same album under the title; The Unstoppable International Edition, making him the first Nigerian artist to have an appropriately priced international album.
2face, however, released two more singles from the international version of his Unstoppable album.
The international edition of the album won two awards at the 2010 SoundCity Music Video Awards. He also won the Channel O Music Video Awards Best African Western award and the MTV Africa Music Awards for Best Male and Artist of the year.

BOKO HARAM: WE ARE TIRED OF FIGHTING!!

The Executive Secretary of the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), the group acting as the go-between for government and Boko Haram, Air Commodore Yusuf Anas, on Wednesday told Channels Television that he got a message from Boko Haram saying “they are tired of fighting and are ready for a quick deal to end the war”.

Air Commodore Anas said that although the insurgents are not asking for monetary compensation as a pre-condition for laying down their arms, they are seeking genuine commitment from government in the ongoing negotiations.
He further claimed that some Boko Haram elements had approached the CCC to help facilitate negotiations between them and the Federal Government sometime in August 2015.
He applauded the Federal Government’s willingness to dialogue with the genuine leaders of the terrorist group, adding that the CCC believes that the new position has become imperative in view of the fact that military option alone has failed to resolve the issue.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday confirmed that the Nigerian government has started negotiations with members of the Boko Haram sect, with the view to securing the release of the over 200 school girls kidnapped in Chibok, Borno State.
The President made the statement while responding to questions from members of the Nigerian community in France under the auspices of Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation (NIDO).
He said his administration was worried by the continued stay of the girls in the hands of their captors and was working tirelessly to get them released.
The girls were abducted from their school’s dormitory in the north-eastern Borno State on April 14 by members of the Boko Haram sect.

ALLEGED FALSE ASSET DECLARATION!!

The Code of Conduct Tribunal has ordered the arrest of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki for failing to appear before the Tribunal to answer charges of alleged false declaration while he served as Governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2007.

Delivering a ruling on the suit filed by the Code of Conduct Bureau, Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, to produce the Senate President on Monday, September 21, which is the next adjourned date. The Tribunal held that no court of coordinate jurisdiction can restrain the Tribunal from performing its constitutional duties.
The Tribunal further held that the Senate President Saraki was duly served with the hearing notice and cannot claim ignorance of the suit before the tribunal.
Lawyer to the Senate President, Mr Joseph Daudu, SAN had challenged the hearing of the suit, saying the prosecutor, Mr Mohammed Hassan lacks the locus standi to institute d action in d absence of an Attorney-General of the Federation.
Mr Hassan, who is a counsel in the office of the A.G.F. however disagreed, saying any officer in the office of the AGF can institute a criminal proceeding in the absence of an AGF.
